A post to say my new project - Nice Hair, Shame About Your Face - is now on my site.
I had wanted to make a project with a scanner for a long time. In high school like most people I put my head in a photocopier and during my BTEC we played around with scanning objects. Finally last year I decided that I was ready and bought a page scanner, which has now turned into Bare Images.
I don't want to say too much about it as I am interested in how people will interprete it, but I will say that the images were not manipulated after they were made.
A new website and a new project! I put together my last website when I was finishing my BA in 2010, so it's a bit overdue...
Sofa Studies was a project that I intended to be a lot smaller than it is. My edits tend to be quite big and I liked the idea of doing a smaller, 10 image series but it grew bigger than it. I have a habit of starting projects in Decembers - only one of which made the final cut so it consists of one image from 2016 and the rest are from this year.
Since moving to London in late 2010 I have primarily taken self-portraits in my bedroom (a big exception being Neblina, which was to overcome my phobia and anxiety regarding working outside), but after moving in 2016 I now have a living room as a 'studio'. So the project was a challenge to see what I could create around the sofa as well as 'celebrating' the move out of the bedroom to the living room. It also continues my work about self-esteem, in particular with the two photos below referring to those bodies that you envy that can actually look unflattering once you breathe out or change your posture.
