At the end of 2016 I found out that I had been selected as 1 of 4 photographers (2 Indian, Uzma Mohsin and Andrea Fernandes, 2 British, Jennifer Pattison and myself) to make projects about Punjabi women in the Black Country, UK and The Punjab, India, for Creative Black Country and Multistory, with support from the Delhi Photo Festival and the Nazar Foundation. They had received funding as part of UK/India 2017 from the British Council.
I started shooting the project in May 2017 and frequently made trips to the Black Country for long weekends, as well as visiting Jalandhar, India for a month in late 2017.
The first show of the 4 commissioned projects, including mine - You Will Live In This World As A Daughter, is next month in Chandigarh, India with the title of Girl Gaze: Journeys Through The Punjab & The Black Country, UK.
Afterwards the project will travel to Jalandhar. Other dates will be announced once they are confirmed.
